Many people hear the terms integrative, functional, and holistic used interchangeably, but they each describe a different part of how I help clients improve their health. Together, they create a comprehensive, personalized approach that looks beyond symptoms and supports the whole person.Functional Nutrition CoachingFunctional nutrition focuses on identifying and addressing potential root contributors to health concerns rather than simply managing symptoms.Instead of asking, "What medication matches this diagnosis?" functional nutrition asks questions like:Why might this be happening? What factors could be contributing to these symptoms? What is interfering with the body's ability to function well?We explore areas such as nutrition, digestion, blood sugar balance, inflammation, stress, sleep, movement, environmental exposures, and lifestyle habits to better understand what may be influencing your health. From there, we build practical, food-first strategies that help support your body's natural ability to function at its best.Integrative Health CoachingIntegrative health coaching recognizes that lasting health is influenced by many interconnected areas of life—not just food.Together, we look at factors such as:NutritionPhysical activitySleepStress resilienceRelationships and social connectionPurpose and meaningEmotional well-beingDaily habits and routinesRestCollaboration with your healthcare teamAs a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC), Michelle partners with you to create realistic goals, navigate obstacles, strengthen healthy habits, and build lasting behavior change in a way that fits your life.Holistic Health CoachingHolistic health means seeing you as a whole person rather than a collection of symptoms or diagnoses.Your body systems are deeply interconnected. Digestive issues may affect energy. Poor sleep can influence cravings and inflammation. Chronic stress can impact hormones, immune function, and overall well-being.Rather than focusing on one isolated concern, we consider how your physical, emotional, mental, social, and environmental health work together. This whole-person perspective helps create a more complete picture of your health and guides a more personalized plan. How These Approaches Work TogetherMichelles coaching combines the strengths of all three approaches.Functional nutrition helps us explore potential root contributors to your symptoms.Integrative health coaching helps you translate that knowledge into realistic, sustainable habits that fit your everyday life.Holistic health ensures we never lose sight of the whole person behind the symptoms.Together, these approaches allow us to create a personalized plan that supports your body's natural ability to restore function, build resilience, and improve overall well-being.What This Means for YouYou won't receive a one-size-fits-all meal plan or generic wellness advice.Instead, you'll receive thoughtful, individualized guidance that considers your health history, current symptoms, lifestyle, goals, preferences, and season of life.Michelles role is to help you better understand what may be contributing to your health challenges, support you in making meaningful nutrition and lifestyle changes, and provide the education, accountability, and encouragement needed to help those changes last. The goal isn't perfection—it's helping you build a healthier body and a more vibrant life, one practical, consistent step at a time.
